As a collaboration between Nic, who spent two years photographing South Africans on bicycles, and Nils who spends all his time restoring old bicycles and recycling bicycle parts, the bench is not surprisingly a bike bench.

At Woodstock Cycleworks they believe every neighbourhood needs a kid, every kid needs a bike, and every bike needs some love so to bring it full circle. It is a neighborhood shop for big kids and small kids. They love bikes, all bikes, but particularly your bike that’s been gathering dust in the back of the shed. Those neglected beauties waiting for some air in their tires, a drop of oil to ease that squeak and a road to strut all fancy pants down. Incidentally Woodstock Cycleworks is also the bike shop that features in the Coldplay music video for the song Paradise.

Nic is one of the photographers behind Bicycle Portraits – 162 portraits and stories of the over 500 portraits of cyclists that he and Stan Engelbrecht photographed during their 2 year journey around South Africa. Nic designs stuff and loves cycling.
